William Traies 1789-1872 ooc nr. Chudleigh, Devon. 50 x 67cms (one of a pair-£7000pr.) £4000 each

This is one of a pair of museum quality oils--original frames, original unlined canvas, no patches, or repairs--truely exceptional!

If you want to recreate the genuine country house look, then this pair is the real thing. Early 19th., or late 18th.C. frames unrestored, perfectly complimenting the images.In fact the stretchers were made to fit the frames.

'The Devonshire Claude' Born in Crediton. Started as a clerk in Exeter Post Office. Artistic talent recognised by John Gendall, & became patronised by Rev. Patch of Trinity, Exeter, and Rev. Carrington of Bridford. Had a studio at Whiteway, Chudleigh for 40 years.Exhibited at Royal Academy. Examples in V&A., & Exeter Museum. Died at Parkers Well Cottage, Topsham Rd., Exeter.
