One of a pair of museum quality oils--original frame, original unlined canvas with no patches--truely exceptional

If you are seeking that genuine country house look, then these are the real thing--original late 18th., early 19th.C. frames, unrestored, with the stretchers made to fit the frames. The oils are fully cleaned, (old labels to reverse), and completely ready to hang. A top quality, very well-listed early English artist.

'The Devonshire Claude' Born in Crediton. Started as a clerk in Exeter Post Office. Talent recognised by John Gendall, & became patronised by Rev. Patch of Trinity, Exeter, and Rev. Carrington of Bridford. Had a studio at Whiteway, Chudleigh for 40 years. Exhibited at the Royal Academy. Works in the V&A., & Exeter Museum. Died at Parkers Well Cottage, Topsham Rd., Exeter.
