John White Abbott 1763-1851 w/c Cottage 18 April 1831 11 x 18cms SOLD
Exeter artist. Trained initially as a surgeon. Learnt art from Francis Towne. Exhibited oils at the Royal Academy 1793-1822. Inherited money enabling him to go on sketching tours at home & abroad. (this is such a sketch). In many public collections including V&A., Exeter, & British Museum . Provenance- came from a sketch book along with four others in date sequence.
