This is an important historical picture showing an ironclad being commissioned off Devonport. Royal pennants are being flown, with a ship of the line dressed overall, while the ironclad is being towed by a steam tug. Mount Edgcombe is in the background. A large quality example of this artist's work at a now exceptional price!

Landscape & coastal painter.Studied under Stanhope Forbes, & in Paris. Made an RBA in 1916. Lived in Plymouth in 1902. Exhibited at Manchester, Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, & Walker Galleries.
