Born in 1837, he moved from Stoke on Trent in 1875 to work for the Torquay Terra Cotta Company at Hele Cross. When that shut in 1905, he continued painting from a shop in Lucius St. He died in 1925. A well painted, detailed view of the village in the early 1900s.
